Jerome Moon for Blount County Mayor

After graduating from Maryville High School, at the age of 17, Moon enlisted into the U.S. Navy and served six years on active duty. He returned home after his military service, enrolled at the University of Tennessee, and began his career at The Daily Times where he worked his way to eventually become president and publisher. With a sense of duty to help his community, Moon became active in philanthropic leadership roles with the Pellissippi State Foundation, vocational education programs, and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

As chairman of the Industrial Board and County Commission, Moon laid the foundation to attract companies like Denso, Rubbermaid, Smith & Wesson, and Team Health to Blount County. In 2017, Moon was appointed by his fellow commissioners to serve in the Tennessee General Assembly and in 2018, Moon was elected to the state house and has served with honor and distinction for the past eight years receiving multiple awards for his conservative efforts.

Moon is a life member of the National Rifle Association, life member of Vietnam Veterans of America, VFW Post 10855, life member of Veterans of Foreign War, and member of Chilhowee View Community Center. Moon has been married to his wife Debbie for over 50 years, has two daughters, and four grandchildren. Jerome and Debbie are members of Piney Grove Baptist Church.
